Our last post covered Local Arizona businesses that gave back to the community in some form. These companies understand community responsibility and are responsible participants.
We had a reader write in about another local Arizona business that too is giving back and in very cool ways. They have developed their own structure for what and how they give back. It is backed with a mission and a purpose.
We reached out to Pool Remodel Phoenix owner, John Craggs, to find out the details ourselves about his mission. It is an outstanding one and one that deserves to be told.
John Craggs loves design and architecture. His father was well know along the Pacific Northwest for his innovative ideas and design. John knew he wanted to follow in his foot step. John however, knew he was meant to do more.
Coming from a background of architecture and design, he understood the power of the triangle. Triangles are used in many building designs because of their structure and strength. The base offers a solid foundation and support. The top is able to carry excess weight because of the distribution of energy throughout the triangle as a whole. What if he could incorporate the more he wanted to do with the love of design and the triangle.
John decided to integrate a tripod of giving back with his company and Tri-Waters was created. Tri-Waters sets out to spread the meaning of art, be a creator a jobs, and help people get of the streets.
John works with the homeless. He has set up a program that brings them in, cleans them up, and then gets them used to everyday, basic living in a safe place. He’s created a learning center that offers teachings and education on basic things from growing food, to working with materials, designing artistic landscapes for the garden, and how to work with your hands. He offers those that do not have high school diplomas to go after their GED’s, opening more doors for when they decide to leave Tri-Waters. Everyone gives back through donating time to produce daily necessities as well as learning new things.
Those that take an interest in art and design, he offers a Tri-Water internship. They intern with him in his business. After working on numerous areas of the business, he identifies their strengths along with their desires and offers them a job. John currently has 3 top notch, leading employees that came from the creation of Tri-Waters. Two of them now have families, drive nice vehicles, are sincerely happy, and are some of his most trusted employees.
The depth of his story and what John is doing is so much more than I can express in words. He covered exactly what he set out to do with Tri-Waters and his company. John is turning homeless humans into housed humans. He is spreading art through his programs and he is creating jobs for people that may have never been given the opportunity. He’s created a system that now supports itself. He is empowering people, educating them, and teaching them how art doesn’t mean you have to love to draw or design for everyone. It is much deeper. It is art that makes the world go round and there is not enough art incorporated into people’s lives.
John is changing what giving back means. He is just simply giving.
Thank you John for your involvement in the community and for all that you have done for so many people.
